Giants Ridge — The Legends
Giants Ridge, located in Biwabik, north of Duluth in the heart of Minnesota’s Superior National Forest of the Mesabi Iron Range, delivers four-season fun for every level of outdoor enthusiast. Summer features golf, plus mountain biking, water sports, hiking and other outdoor activities. Winter brings skiing, snowboarding and fat-tire biking. Spring and fall are the perfect transitions to the next season of outdoor offerings. (Photo: Giants Ridge)
Giants Ridge — The Legend, Hole No. 17
As its name implies, The Legend offers flat-out memorable golf. Carved out of the Superior National Forest, The Legend is a true Northwoods course, featuring towering pines, giant fairways and majestic views of Wynne and Sabin lakes. Designed by Jeff Brauer, The Legend opened for play in 1997 and features one of the most memorable holes in the region: the par-3 17th. Tee shots must fly over Sabin Lake and the collection areas in front. There are no shortage of picturesque moments from the tee and on the green. (Photo: Giants Ridge)
Giants Ridge — The Quarry, Hole No. 13
Consistently ranked as the best public golf course in Minnesota, The Quarry is built on the site of a former sand quarry and iron-ore mine. Dramatically raised tees and hazards forged from reclaimed and repurposed mine land set this Jeff Brauer design apart and provide dramatic Iron Range vistas. Golf Magazine touted The Quarry’s par-4 13th as one of “America’s Best 18 Holes Since 2000.” Stretching to 323 yards, No. 13 offers plenty of options off the tee to a wide fairway with a small bunker lurking in the middle. The large, diagonal and undulating putting surface sits atop a ledge that features native grasses in front.

Earlier this year, Giants Ridge received the Editors’ Choice Award from Golf Digest in the “Best Golf Resorts in the Midwest” category. Giants Ridge was one of only eight resorts listed in the Midwest, and the only destination in Minnesota. The other prestigious properties named were The American Club, Arcadia Bluffs, Erin Hills, Forest Dunes, French Lick, The Inn at Bay Harbor and Sand Valley. In 2019, Golf Magazine listed Giants Ridge in the “Best Resorts for Families” category in the publication’s inaugural ranking of North America’s Top 100 Golf Resorts.

Giants Ridge — Biking
Served by the Sarajevo Express chairlift, the seven downhill mountain bike trails at Giants Ridge are ideal for thrill seekers and those who prefer exploring nature on two wheels. The new Giants Ridge Bike Park is home to nine gravity-served trails and miles of cross-country mountain-bike terrain. Typically considered a summer activity, biking through the terrain at Giants Ridge is particularly breathtaking during the fall due to vivid colors. Adventure seekers also can ride designated mountain-bike terrain in winter, via fat bike. Giants Ridge was one of the first ski resorts in Minnesota to offer fat tire on select Nordic trails and now offers lift-served winter fat biking on certain downhill trails. (Photo: Giants Ridge)

After a day outside, there are plentiful dining options sprinkled throughout the resort.
