The Mary Marshall -- a versatile option

Last month I went to a photo shoot at the Royal & Ancient Chappaquiddick Links on Chappaquiddick Island in Massachusetts where the club’s new line of clothing was making its debut.

I have always had a soft spot for the course because of its unique location on Chappaquiddick, or Chappy, as the locals call it and its simple logo of a black crow.

While there, I met Theresa DiMattia, a local Chappaquiddick clothing designer and learned about her newest design, the Mary Marshall dress. The dress is named in honor of the former owner’s grandmother.

According to DiMattia, Marshall was an independent on the go woman in her day, which was the inspiration for the dress.

“I designed the dress with movement, and the many Chappy sports in mind -- golf, tennis and cycling,” DiMattia said of the Mary Marshall. “A wrap dress with ease in movement for all of the Chappy ladies’ hobbies that comes with a bike short for added versatility and comfort.”

Offered in a printed navy/purple/white polyester/spandex blend, the dress has moisture wicking capabilities.

DiMattia, sews all the dresses in her home on Chappaquiddick and has added interesting touches like cap sleeves on some of the dresses and of course near the bottom of the hem, the black crow logo.

“I think for the dress drop I'm going to do 20 in this material (polyester/spandex) and then I'm going to do completely customizable designs. I'll have three different materials you can choose from.  If you want a little piping along the seam and the neck line or if you want like a different waist tie, we can do that as well.”

If interested in learning more about a fully customizable wrap dress that works well on the links and off, contact Theresa and she can walk you through the process.
