About The Signature: Fossil Trace is an apt name for this course given that prehistoric fossils have been found on its grounds. Fossils, including Triceratops footprints and a prehistoric palm leaf, are seen in the rock formations off the par-5 green. … The course has routinely been tapped as the best play in Golden/Denver and among the best in Colorado. Course architect James Engh did well to include the natural setting into this design. At the par-5 12th, for example, rock pillars dot the fairway and serve as guides for the second shot — and a possible hinderance on the approach if your ball comes to rest behind one. The green is uniquely guarded by tall rock and clay formations that make for an interesting visual on the approach and are a reason the 12th has been cited as one of the most fun holes to play in America. Watch this video to see exactly what you'd experience if you played the par-5 12th hole at Fossil Trace.
