Old Works' bones make for special play

May 10, 2021 03:23 PM

From the remnants of historic copper smelting sites in remote Anaconda, Mont., Jack Nicklaus designed the Old Works Golf Course in the mid-1990s.

The course, which plays to a robust 7,705 yards, pays homage to its roots. The bunkers are filled with black slag, an abandoned 600-foot smelting stack can be seen from around the course, and old machinery is used as aesthetic design elements.
