The Champion underwent a recent renovation and reopened in late 2018 to rave reviews. The challenging layout is perhaps best known for its renowned “Bear Trap” – a series of three demanding holes many considered the toughest stretch in the game. The resort’s superb Palmer Course reopened in late 2017 after undergoing its own lauded renovation.

The format for both the Open and Senior division championships is a 72-hole, individual stroke-play competition with no cut. Twelve competitors in six flights – six from the Senior division and six from the Open division – will be crowned national champions in official awards ceremonies immediately following the conclusion of the respective tournaments.

Competitors will additionally have the opportunity to meet several NBC Sports / GOLF Channel on-air personalities including Rich Lerner, Lauren Thompson and Alexandra O’Laughlin.

Long revered as on the top golf destinations in the U.S., PGA National also offers the David Leadbetter Golf Academy and David Pelz Scoring Game School for individual instruction and group clinics; Every Ball Counts – the world’s first science-based, statistics-driven training system for golf improvement offered at its off-site Estates Course; and state-of-the-art club fitting at Cool Club.

The resort’s expansive 40,000-square-foot European-style spa is renowned as the ultimate in relaxation and rejuvenation. The spa recently underwent a revitalization to its pool deck complete with new furnishings as well as renovation of the sleek ladies’ lounge and wet room including all new sauna, steam rooms, indoor Jacuzzi and locker rooms.

Resort guests can also enjoy the new high-tech 33,000-square-foot Sports & Racquet Club featuring a wide array of fitness activities and classes including pickle ball and tennis on the 18 Har Tru tennis courts (11 lit for night play). Not to be missed is the striking zero-entry pool, chef-driven Ironwood Steak & Seafood restaurant, and chic iBAR in its glamorous lobby.
