Castlewood undergoes bunker renovations

Pleasanton, Calif. (October 2, 2017) – Castlewood Country Club’s famed Valley Course is in the midst of a bunker renovation project. The project began on September 7th and is expected to be completed by the first week of December. Castlewood Director of Agronomy, Lou Silveira, and the Castlewood Golf Committee are overseeing the project, while crews from Heritage Links Golf Course Construction are performing the renovation work.

The bunker renovation project will enhance all Valley Course bunkers by adding new drainage, liners and sand to each bunker, thereby improving the overall playability of the bunkers. While the bunkers are being improved, the overall goal of Silveira and the Golf Committee is to maintain the integrity of the original course design and enhance the golf experience at Castlewood Country Club.

During the renovation project, 9 holes of the Valley Course will be closed at a time to allow for crews to access the course and work without interference. The front nine of the Valley Course is scheduled to be closed through mid-October. When the front nine is complete, the back nine will be closed for renovation work.

“The current bunker renovation is a part of our continuous effort to deliver excellent playing conditions to Castlewood members and guests,” said Brett Faulkner, Director of Golf, Castlewood Country Club. “We’re excited about the enhancements and look forward to seeing the finished product in the coming weeks.”

Castlewood Country Club is professionally managed by Troon Privé, the private club operations division of Troon, the largest third-party services provider in the world with properties located in 36 states and 31 countries.

The Hill Course measures 6,219 yards from the back tees, while the Valley Course plays slightly longer at 6,678 yards. The Club counts roughly 1,100 member families, who enjoy the diverse range of family-oriented amenities. These include a well-equipped swimming pool, tennis program and a Bocce Complex. Fine dining is offered in the Veranda Lounge, overlooking the first and ninth holes of the Hill Course.
