AT&T Byron Nelson looks ripe for a long-shot winner

May 11, 2021 04:07 PM

On a new episode, the guys break down this week's AT&T Byron Nelson. Even after Dustin Johnson's surprising WD, there are a few big names in the field, and some are tempting to wager on. RotoWire's Scott Jenstad likes Jon Rahm and Daniel Berger, while Morning Read's Jeff Ritter is building fantasy teams around Bryson DeChambeau and Scottie Scheffler.

But TPC Craig Ranch is a new course for the PGA Tour, and with that unpredictability comes opportunity. Scott likes Si Woo Kim a lot for the money, and Ritter and Jenstad both think Doug Ghim will be heavily owned this week, as he has a profile of a strong ball-striker and weak putter. (Because it's a new golf course, all players are learning the greens for the first time.)

For long shots, Ritter says recent Walker Cuppers Cole Hammer and Tyler Strafaci could sneak in and make the cut. Jenstad says to keep an eye out for Jhonny Vegas, Wyndham Clark and Brandt Snedeker.

One-and-done picks to win:
Scott Jenstad: Si Woo Kim
Jeff Ritter: Bryson DeChambeau
Jeff Erickson: Jason Day
