Staff report

Three Morning Read contributors were honored during the Golf Writers Association of America’s annual writing contest, the GWAA announced.

Adam Schupak, formerly of Golfweek, claimed the top honor in the non-daily news category for his piece titled “Sunday shocker” about Danny Willett’s victory in the Masters (and Jordan Spieth’s collapse) that ran in the April 18 issue of the magazine. Schupak also won a runner-up award for non-daily features and an honorable mention in non-daily news for his Golfweek work.

Jim McCabe, also formerly of Golfweek, took a third-place award in non-daily news and an honorable mention in the same category.

Bill Fields, writing for USGA.org, won a third-place award in non-daily news. For his work in The Memorial tournament magazine, he took third place in non-daily columns.

The winners will be honored April 5 during Masters week at the ISPS Handa GWAA awards dinner in Augusta, Ga.
