Schauffele, whose father was born in Stuttgart and whose paternal grandfather played professional soccer in Germany, will compete in the European Tour’s Porsche European Open, which begins Thursday at Green Eagle Golf Courses in Hamburg. Schauffele, who stands ninth in the Official World Golf Ranking, and American Patrick Reed, at No. 16, are the highest-ranked golfers in the event and regarded as two of the favorites (tee times).

Number of qualifiers from the Korn Ferry Tour who earned membership to the PGA Tour for the 2019-20 season, which begins next week with A Tribute to the Military at The Greenbrier Resort’s Old White TPC in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. The 50 rookies are composed of the top 25 from the Korn Ferry Tour’s regular season and the top 25 from the recently completed tour finals.

Position in the Official World Golf Ranking for England’s Tom Lewis, who won the Korn Ferry Tour Championship on Monday to improve 22 spots in the world order. Lewis, 28, a two-time winner on the European Tour, earned a PGA Tour card for the 2019-20 season in winning his debut on the developmental tour. He was among 25 players to qualify for the Tour out of the Korn Ferry finals.
