McIlroy, 30, of Northern Ireland, traded places with American Dustin Johnson, who tied for last place – 29th – at the Tour Championship. American Brooks Koepka remained No. 1 in the world order for a 15th consecutive week.


Distance, in yards, that separates No. 1 Anne van Dam and No. 2 Angel Yin in average drives on the LPGA. The two will square off at 5:30 p.m. PDT today in a long-drive contest on the first tee at Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland, Ore., the site of this week’s Cambia Portland Classic. The competition, dubbed the Rose City Rumble, will serve as a preview of sorts for next month’s Solheim Cup, in which Yin will make her second appearance for the U.S. in the biennial matches and van Dam will debut for Europe. Van Dam, 23, of the Netherlands, averages 283.76 off the tee. Yin, 20, averages 281.69.
