Announced: By the PGA Tour, Korn Ferry as the sponsor of the developmental tour formerly known as the Web.com Tour, effective immediately. Korn Ferry is a management consulting company based in Los Angeles. The sponsorship of the Korn Ferry Tour extends through the 2028 season. The PGA Tour did not explain why Web.com’s contract, which was supposed to run through 2021, ended prematurely. This is not the first time that the PGA Tour’s top developmental tour changed names in midseason. In June 2012, Web.com announced a 10-year sponsorship deal, and the former Nationwide Tour became the Web.com Tour. The developmental tour launched in 1990 as the Ben Hogan Tour. With evolving sponsorships, it became the Nike Tour for seven seasons (1993-99) and the Buy.com Tour for three seasons (2000-02) before Nationwide Insurance bought the naming rights beginning in 2003 and lasting 9½ years.
