Finalized: The field for this week’s U.S. Open, with the addition of three players based on their positions in the Official World Golf Ranking and three alternates from sectional qualifying, the U.S. Golf Association announced. No. 50 Andrew Putnam, No. 53 Emiliano Grillo and No. 59 Scott Piercy earned exemptions into the 119th Open, which begins Thursday at Pebble Beach (Calif.) Golf Links. Among the alternates, Joel Dahmen, the first alternate from the Columbus, Ohio, sectional; Bernd Wiesberger, the first alternate from the England sectional; and Harris English, the first alternate from the Canada sectional, won exemptions (tee times).
