The Champions Tour’s second major championship of the season returns to Oak Hill this week, with Haas and nine other past champions entered. Haas also competed on the 1995 U.S. Ryder team that won at Oak Hill (tee times).

Number of holes that Duke senior Virginia Elena Carta needed to defeat Stanford junior Ziyi Wang in the pivotal match as the Blue Devils advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship in Fayetteville, Ark. The other quarterfinal winners at Blessings Golf Club: Defending champion Arizona defeated Southern California, 3-2; Wake Forest edged Arkansas, 3-2; and Auburn eliminated Texas, 3-2. Duke will play Arizona this morning, and Wake Forest will meet Auburn. The final will follow in the afternoon.

Position in the Official World Golf Ranking, a career high, for England’s Matt Wallace, who will be the defending champion at the European Tour’s Made in Denmark. Play begins Thursday at Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort in Farso, Denmark. Wallace won last year’s event, which was played in September at Silkeborg Ry Golf Club (tee times).
