Presented: With the Ben Hogan Award, Oklahoma State’s Viktor Hovland, a junior from Oslo, Norway. The award recognizes the best men’s college golfer from the past 12 months, based on all college and amateur events. Hovland ranks No. 1 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings entering this week’s NCAA Championship and is No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. Hovland, 21, won the 2018 U.S. Amateur and was the low amateur at the recent Masters, in which he tied for 32nd. He has won three times this season for the top-ranked Cowboys, the defending NCAA champions, and has compiled a 68.59 stroke average. He is the sixth OSU player to join the list of Ben Hogan Award winners and the fourth since 2002, when the criteria were revised to exclude academic performance. The award was presented late Monday at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, site of this week’s PGA Tour Charles Schwab Challenge and the late Hogan’s longtime home club.
