Number of consecutive years that American Dustin Johnson will tee off at the PGA Championship as the No. 1 player in the Official World Golf Ranking. Johnson tied for 27th last year, and he tied for 13th in 2017. At the 2016 PGA, when he was ranked No. 2, behind Jason Day, Johnson missed the cut. Johnson, a 20-time winner on the PGA Tour, owns only one major championship, the 2016 U.S. Open. The PGA begins Thursday at Bethpage State Park’s Black Course in Farmingdale, N.Y. (tee times).


Distance, in yards, of the drive that American Max Homa hit Tuesday to capture the PGA Championship Long Drive Competition. Homa, 28, who won the Wells Fargo Championship two weeks ago for his first PGA Tour victory, hit the winning drive on the 423-yard, par-4 16th hole. Shane Lowry, Patrick Reed and Casey Russell shared runner-up honors with drives of 310 yards. Since the competition was re-introduced before the 2014 PGA Championship, the winners have been: Bryson DeChambeau (2018 Bellerive, 331 yards), Jason Kokrak (2017 Quail Hollow, 321 yards), Byeong Hun An (2016 Baltusrol, 347 yards), Anirban Lahiri (2015 Whistling Straits, 327 yards) and Louis Oosthuizen (2014 Valhalla, 340 yards).
