Paired: Three reigning major champions – the Masters’ Tiger Woods, the British Open’s Francesco Molinari and the PGA and U.S. Open’s Brooks Koepka – for the first round of this month’s PGA Championship, said Kerry Haigh, the PGA of America’s chief championships officer, in an announcement on PGA.com. The rest of the pairings will be announced May 10, ahead of the May 16-19 event at Bethpage State Park’s Black Course in Farmingdale, N.Y.
Announced: By Quail Hollow Club, that the 2021 Wells Fargo Championship will move from the Charlotte, N.C., club to TPC Potomac (Md.) at Avenel Farm so that Quail Hollow can prepare for the Presidents Cup matches in the fall. In related news, Wells Fargo extended its sponsorship for five years, through 2024. TPC Potomac played host to the Tour’s former Kemper Open and Booz Allen Classic from 1987 to 2006 and the Quicken Loans National in 2017-18. Quail Hollow has played host to the PGA Tour every year since 2003. In 2017, the Wells Fargo event moved to Eagle Point in Wilmington, N.C., because Quail Hollow hosted the PGA Championship that summer.
