In search of ‘legends’ and ‘champions’
If the Champions Tour limited the field to “legends,” then you would have an event with maybe 24 players (“Legends of Golf fails to live up to its name,” April 26). That would not work. So, the term “legends” is off the mark.
They now call the former Senior Tour the Champions Tour. How many players on the tour never won a PGA Tour regular event? I did not count, but it is probably double digits.
So, that name is inaccurate, and they get away with it because … well, because … the PGA Tour does what it wants to do and has no one police its doings.
It is not the Champions Tour. It is the Senior Tour.
