Withdrew: Michelle Wie, from this week’s Kia Classic, citing ongoing pain in her right wrist, the LPGA announced. Wie, 29, a five-time winner on the LPGA, has played only twice this season. In her most recent appearance, at the HSBC Women’s World Championship last month in China, she withdrew on the 15th hole in the first round as she stood 10 over and holding her ailing right wrist. Wie underwent hand surgery in October. The Kia Classic begins Thursday in Carlsbad, Calif.


Extended: By Dell Technologies, its sponsorship of the WGC Match Play, by four years, through 2023. The announcement was made by the PGA Tour on the eve of the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play, which begins today in Austin, Texas, near Dell’s headquarters in Round Rock.
