Position in the Official World Golf Ranking for Paul Casey, who improved four spots in the world order after winning the PGA Tour’s Valspar Championship for a second consecutive year. Casey, 41, of England, was ranked as high as No. 3 in 2009 after he won the BMW Championship, one of his 13 career victories on the European Tour. Casey is one of eight Englishmen ranked among the top 40 in the world. Only the U.S., with 14, has more top-40 players.

Number of career matches played by Tiger Woods in the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play, a PGA Tour record. Woods, a three-time winner of the event, returns to the Match Play for the first time since 2013, when he was bounced by Charles Howell III at Dove Mountain in Marana, Ariz., under the single-elimination format. Woods will get his first competitive look at Austin (Texas) Country Club, a 1984 Pete Dye design. Ian Poulter, with 42 matches in the WGC Match Play, and Sergio Garcia, with 41, can surpass Woods this week in career matches. However, Woods’ 33 career match victories will remain out of reach (tee times; groups; bracket).
