Announced: By the Mackenzie Tour, the PGA Tour’s developmental tour in Canada, a 12-tournament schedule across six provinces that will begin in late May and run through mid-September. The 11 regular-season events, beginning with the Freedom 55 Financial Open on May 23-26 at Point Grey Golf and Country Club in Vancouver, British Columbia, will carry purses of $200,000 Canadian (about $150,000 U.S.). The season-ending Freedom 55 Financial Championship, to be played Sept. 12-15 at Highland Country Club in London, Ontario, will carry a purse of $225,000 Canadian (about $169,000 U.S.).
Extended: By five years, Sherwin Williams Co.’s sponsorship of the PGA Tour’s Valspar Championship, through 2025. The 2019 edition of the Valspar begins Thursday at Innisbrook Resort’s Copperhead Course in Palm Harbor, Fla. The tournament dates to 2000, when it was known as the Tampa Bay Classic and played in the fall. Since 2007, the tournament has been held in March as part of the Tour’s Florida Swing. The tournament has been played at the Copperhead Course every year.
