Position in the Official World Golf Ranking for Italy’s Francesco Molinari, an improvement of three spots, after he won the PGA Tour’s Arnold Palmer Invitational on Sunday. Molinari, the hero of Europe’s Ryder Cup victory in the fall, was ranked as high as No. 5 in the world last summer in the wake of his victories in Europe’s BMW PGA, the PGA Tour’s Quicken Loans National and the British Open. He will be paired with Australia’s Jason Day and American Tony Finau in the Players Championship, which begins Thursday at TPC Sawgrass’ Stadium Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. (tee times).
