Announced: Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield, Conn., as host site of the 2020 U.S. Senior Women’s Open, the U.S. Golf Association said. The third annual event for women 50 and older will be played July 9-12. Laura Davis won last year’s inaugural U.S. Senior Women’s Open, at Chicago Golf Club. This year’s event will be played May 16-19 at Pine Needles in Southern Pines, N.C. Brooklawn is a 1930 A.W. Tillinghast design that has hosted four USGA events: 1974 U.S. Junior Amateur (won by David Nevatt); 1979 U.S. Women’s Open (Jerilyn Britz); 1987 U.S. Senior Open (Gary Player); and 2003 U.S. Girls’ Junior (Sukjin-Lee Wuesthoff).

Reduced: From five players to four, the team sizes for Kentucky’s boys and girls state golf tournaments, according to a report by The Courier-Journal newspaper of Louisville. The move was made to strengthen the quality of the field and to improve the pace of play, according to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s Board of Control. The change will reduce the field size to 144, from 156 for the boys and 154 for the girls.
