Increased: The prize money for the winner of the European Tour’s season-ending DP World Tour Championship, to $3 million. It will be the largest winner’s check in golf. As part of the move, the European Tour also boosted the payout to the other winners of the final three Rolex Series events: $2 million for the Turkish Airlines Open and $2.5 million for the Nedbank Golf Challenge. However, the total purses for the three events will remain the same: Turkish Airlines Open, $7 million; Nedbank Golf Challenge, $7.5 million; and DP World Tour Championship, $8 million (details). The European Tour has struggled to keep some of its top players from defecting to the PGA Tour, which historically has offered larger purses and more world-ranking points based on the comparative strengths of field.
