Number of PGA Tour tournaments that have existed longer than the Genesis Open, which started in 1926 as the Los Angeles Open and will be played this week at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. (tee times). Only the British Open, which dates to 1860, U.S. Open (1895), BMW Championship (1899), RBC Canadian Open (1904), PGA Championship (1916) and Valero Texas Open (1922) hold older histories on Tour.


Amount, in dollars, that the winner of this week’s $7.4 million Genesis Open will receive. He also will win a Genesis G70 automobile, which carries a suggested retail price of $35,895-$53,245, depending upon options. That first-place prize money is more than the entire purse of this week’s LPGA’s ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open, which will pay $195,000 to the winner.
