A quest for golf enlightenment

Questions to ponder while impatiently waiting for spring:

Do you think Bryson DeChambeau cares that Brooks Koepka called him out for excessively slow play?

Hasn’t Koepka been chatty lately?

Are you going to putt with the flagstick in? How about after the first time the ball hits the stick and bounces out?

Do you think the professional tours should be allowed to make their own rules?

Should you be allowed to say “butter cut” on TV if you’ve never hit one?

Are you going to miss Johnny Miller? Or are you happy that Paul Azinger is in the booth at NBC? Did it look as if Azinger was caught off guard when Dan Hicks asked him if he felt pressure to replace Miller?

Should Sergio Garcia have been suspended by the European Tour for his inexcusable course abuse in Saudi Arabia? Can anyone explain his behavior?

Waste Management Phoenix Open or AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am?

If you had an extra $500, would you buy a new driver or get some short-game lessons?

Is it time for the ruling bodies to do something about excess distance for the elite players? If they take distance away from Tour players, would you be all right having distance taken away from you, too?

Anyone seen Boo Weekley?

If Lexi Thompson could putt, do you think anyone on the LPGA could beat her? (Did you know that she plays an X-flex shaft in her driver?)

Do you admire Phil Mickelson? Do you respect him?

Now that the Players Championship has moved back to March, TPC Sawgrass will be a ryegrass-overseeded golf course, the wind likely will blow harder and the temperatures could be pretty chilly. Is that what the PGA Tour and the players wanted?

If you have a Topgolf facility nearby, have you visited it yet? Would you?

Are white pants ever a good idea?

How much of a difference would it make to the overall health of golf if all 25 million golfers in the U.S. would play one more round in 2019 than they did in 2018?

Gary Nicklaus earned $693,571 on the PGA Tour. Now he is playing the Champions Tour. Should he have been allowed to have his amateur status reinstated in 2007?

Do you think Tiger Woods will be OK if he doesn’t win another major? Will you be OK if he doesn’t?

Would you be willing for your golf course to be a little less green if you had faster fairways?

Besides Bubba Watson, does anyone on Tour have any worse body language than Jon Rahm?

When Kelly Tilghman was at Golf Channel, she was the queen of hyperbole. But with constant use of words such as “great,” “greatest,” “best,” and “special” among many other syrupy superlatives, is there any bigger cheerleader than Rich Lerner?

Was it disingenuous for players who accepted appearance fees to play in Saudi Arabia to say they were there to promote the growth of golf? Do you think the Saudis were chafed that they wasted appearance fees on Justin Rose and Garcia?

Have you bought one of those drivers or wedges advertised on Golf Channel, claiming to make tee shots and chipping easier? Have you been tempted?

Will you see anything any better this year than the video of Gary Woodland and Amy Bockerstette at the Waste Management Phoenix Open? Could you have made par under similar circumstances?
