Announced: By the U.S. Golf Association, 110 sites for local qualifying for the U.S. Open. The 18-hole qualifying will be held in 43 states and Canada from April 29 to May 13. Qualifiers will advance to the 36-hole sectional round at 12 sites – nine in the U.S. and one each in England, Canada and Japan on May 20-June 3. Registration will begin later this month. The U.S. Open will be played June 13-16 at Pebble Beach (Calif.) Golf Links. The record number of entrants seeking to qualify for the national championship was set in 2014, when 10,127 sought entry for the Open at Pinehurst (N.C.) Resort. Last year, 21 players advanced through local and sectional qualifying to make the 156-player field for the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills on Long Island, N.Y. Ken Venturi (1964) and Orville Moody (1969) are the only players to win the U.S. Open after having advanced through local and sectional qualifying.

Awarded: By the USGA, the 2020 U.S. Girls’ Junior to Eisenhower Golf Course at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. The tournament will be played at Eisenhower’s Blue Course, a 1959 Robert Trent Jones Sr. design.
