Accepted: By John Smoltz, a Baseball Hall of Fame member, three exemptions into Champions Tour events this season. Smoltz, 51, will compete in the Cologuard Classic on March 1-3 in Tucson, Ariz.; the Mitsubishi Electric Classic on April 19-21 in Duluth, Ga.; and the American Family Insurance Championship on June 21-23 in Madison, Wis. In January, Smoltz won the celebrity division of the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions. He qualified for the 2018 U.S. Senior Open at Broadmoor Golf Club but shot 85-77 and missed the cut. As a right-handed pitcher, Smoltz compiled a 213-155 record, 154 saves and 3,084 strikeouts in 21 seasons, 20 of them with the Atlanta Braves.

Announced: By Golf Channel, that it will air three hours of daily live coverage of the Western Intercollegiate on April 15-17, the first time that a stroke-play college tournament will be televised. The Western, in its 73rd year, is the nation’s longest-running college tournament. It is played at the Alister MacKenzie-designed Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, Calif. Golf Channel televises the match-play portion of the NCAA tournament each spring.

Added: By the Tour, the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Championship to the 2019 schedule. The tournament will be played April 18-21 at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Capitol Hill’s Senator Course in Prattville, Ala. The 11-site RTJ Golf Trail played host to the Tour Championship in 1997-2005 at four courses, including the Senator Course.
