Number of South African major champions who will be playing in this week’s South African Open, which begins Thursday at Randpark Golf Club in Johannesburg. Ernie Els, a four-time major champion and World Golf Hall of Fame inductee, will join countrymen Trevor Immelman, Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel as headliners at their national open, which is co-sanctioned by the European and Sunshine tours (tee times).


Number of players in the 24-person field in this week’s QBE Shootout who are ranked among the top 60 in the world. That list includes Lexi Thompson, the lone female in the event, who is No. 5 in the Rolex Rankings. Bryson DeChambeau, who is No. 5 in the Official World Golf Ranking, and No. 9 Tony Finau, who will be paired with Thompson, lead on the men’s side. Twelve two-person teams will tee off Friday at Tiburon Golf Club at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort in Naples, Fla. The format: scramble on Friday, modified alternate shot on Saturday and four-ball on Sunday (tee times).
