Many questions amid ‘Black Friday’ offer

Questions to ponder while trying to find someone who gives a rip about the Tiger Woods-Phil Mickelson match…

Before we go all breathless about Cameron Champ, shouldn’t we wait to see how he does against Justin Rose, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas, et al., instead of how he did against Corey Conners, Carlos Ortiz, Sam Burns, Anders Albertson, Adam Schenk, et al.?

Do you think Matt Kuchar paid the standard 10 percent of the $1.296 million winner’s check of the Mayakoba Golf Classic to local caddie David “El Tucan” Ortiz? How about Kooch’s regular caddie, John Wood? Is he wearing out his foot kicking himself for skipping Mexico to attend a reunion?

What does it say most about American fans, that the only LPGA players for whom they pull are Americans? What does it say about the Koreans, that they’re still not making the maximum effort to connect with American fans? What does it say about the LPGA, that it hasn’t figured out a way to properly introduce its players to a U.S. audience? Why is this still a problem?

What’s next for the U.S. Ryder Cup apparatus? Conference call with Paul Azinger?

What does it say about Bernhard Langer and Scott McCarron that they can handle long putters without anchoring and still be the two best putters on the PGA Tour Champions? (Do you think they are anchoring?)

Do you think Woods told U.S. Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk that he was fatigued? If he didn’t, shouldn’t he have done so?

Woods will be the U.S. captain for next year’s Presidents Cup. What do you suppose he will do with Patrick Reed?

Lydia Ko is now 21 years old. Do you think she cares more about the way she looks or how she plays? Isn’t that one of the pitfalls of having young girls grow up on the LPGA? Shouldn’t we call it Michelle Wie Syndrome?

Is it officially time to worry about Jordan Spieth?

Will the Players Championship be better in March than in May? In March, TPC Sawgrass will be a ryegrass golf course instead of Bermudagrass, and the weather is likely to be colder and windier. Do you prefer that?

Will the PGA of America still be able to go to cold-weather states for a May date? New York can be frigid and wet in May, can’t it?

Do you get the feeling that Lee Westwood is one of the best blokes on that side of the Atlantic?

Did you ever think of Justin Rose as one who would chase money? After 20 years with TaylorMade, he jumped ship to Japanese luxury clubmaker Honma. Don’t most all these equipment changes come to a bad end?

You had the choice of NFL football and the PGA Tour Champions’ Charles Schwab Cup Championship. Which did you choose?

Do you get the feeling that David Duval still has a lot to learn as a broadcaster?

Are you happy about Azinger coming onboard with NBC? Is there a better TV analyst?

Are you pulling for Brandel Chamblee to do well on the PGA Tour Champions next year? Don’t you secretly want someone on Golf Channel to (brutally) dissect his game?

Why do we need to call it PGA Tour Champions? Why can’t we call it the Champions Tour? Wait. Many of them actually are not champions. So, why can’t we call it the Senior PGA Tour?

While it’s great to watch college golf on TV a couple of times a year, could someone please get the players to play faster? And can’t we send the coaches to the sidelines like we do in every other sport?

If he had it to do over, shouldn’t Furyk have made Mickelson an assistant captain instead of a captain’s pick?

Will you pay $19.99 to watch Woods and Mickelson on Friday? Or do you have something better to do? Such as cleaning out your sock drawer?
