Elected: Suzy Whaley, as president of the PGA of America, at the association’s annual meeting in Indian Wells, Calif. (“What is PGA of America trying to hide?” Nov. 7). Whaley, the PGA’s 41st president, is the first female leader of the 28,000-plus member association in its 102-year history. She is the director of golf at Suzy Whaley Golf in Cromwell, Conn., and director of instruction at Country Club at Mirasol in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Other officers elected: Jim Richerson, vice president; and John Lindert, secretary.

Named: As captain of the U.S. team for the 2019 Junior Solheim Cup, Mary Bea Porter-King, the American Junior Golf Association announced. The Americans’ 18-and-under girls will play the Europeans on Sept. 10-11 at Gleneagles, Scotland, ahead of the biennial Solheim Cup matches. The U.S., which has won five consecutive matches, leads the Junior Solheim series, 6-2-1.
