Ended: The 2018 golf season for American Michelle Wie, who underwent surgery on her right hand, she disclosed on Instagram. The oft-injured Wie, 29, did not play in August and September while resting her hand. After a 1-3 record in the UL International Crown earlier this month, she tied for 66th in the LPGA KEB Hana Bank Championship before opting for surgery. Wie won her fifth LPGA title in March, at the HSBC Women’s World Championship.

Named: By the American Junior Golf Association, its players of the year: Akshay Bhatia for the boys and Yealimi Noh for the girls. Bhatia, 16, of Wake Forest, N.C., won three times this year and did not finish outside of the top 15 in 10 starts. Noh, 17, of Concord, Calif., won four times in nine starts and did not finish outside of the top 12.
