Position in the Official World Golf Ranking for Australia’s Marc Leishman, an improvement of eight spots, after his victory in the CIMB Classic. Leishman is within four spots of his career high, achieved early this year after he won the Sentry Tournament of Champions. The OWGR's top 15 were unchanged, with American Dustin Johnson remaining No. 1.
First-round score for Laura Davies, who leads the Senior LPGA Championship. Davies, 55, of England, stood 6 under through 16 holes on a cold, blustery day at French Lick (Ind.) Resort’s Pete Dye Course before she made bogeys on the final two holes. She leads American Juli Inkster and Swedes Maria McBride and Liselotte Neumann by one stroke. Three months ago, Davies dominated the inaugural U.S. Senior Women’s Open, winning by 10 strokes. She is a World Golf Hall of Fame inductee who won 20 times on the LPGA, including four major championships, and 45 times on the Ladies European Tour (scores/tee times).
