Number of Englishmen atop the leaderboard after the first round of the Sky Sports British Masters on Thursday. Tommy Fleetwood, Eddie Pepperell and Matt Wallace shot 5-under 67s at Walton Heath Golf Club in Walton-on-the-Hill, England. Among the trio, they have won five times this season on the European Tour, with Wallace owning three victories (scores).

Lara Tennant of Portland, Ore., wins the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur.

Winning score for American Lara Tennant over Australian Sue Wooster in the championship match of the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur. With her father, George Mack, 78, on the bag, Tennant, 51, of Portland, Ore., rolled in a 12-foot birdie putt on the first hole at Orchid Island Golf and Beach Club in Vero Beach, Fla., and led throughout the match. Tennant earned two-year exemptions into the U.S. Senior Women’s Open, U.S. Women’s Amateur and U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur and a 10-year exemption into the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur (scores).


Score for American Bronson Burgoon, who led the first round of the PGA Tour’s CIMB Classic, the second tournament of the 2018-19 season. Burgoon, 31, in his third season on Tour, stood 1 over through four holes after starting on the back nine at TPC Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. He played his final 14 holes in 10 under, highlighted by an eagle at the par-5 18th. American Austin Cook (64) was second after a bogey-free 8-under round (scores).


Score for Japan’s Nasa Hataoka, who led the first round of the KEB Hana Bank Championship at 7 under. Hataoka had gotten to 8 under at Sky 72 Golf Course in Incheon, South Korea, before a bogey at the par-3 17th. She led England’s Charley Hull and American Danielle Kang by two strokes in the second event on the LPGA’s six-stop Asia Swing (scores).
