Voted: As the PGA Tour’s 2018 player of the year, American Brooks Koepka, in balloting among the Tour’s membership. Koepka, 28, won the U.S. Open and PGA Championship. He will receive the Jack Nicklaus Trophy. The other finalists were Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson, Francesco Molinari, Justin Rose and Justin Thomas.

Withdrew: Jhonattan Vegas, from this week’s CIMB Classic at TPC Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia (tee times). In a Twitter post, Vegas, 34, of Venezuela, cited issues “due to my passport expiring in 2 months.” He tied for 53rd last week in the season-opening Safeway Open. Vegas resolved visa issues in July and narrowly made his first-round tee time for the British Open at Carnoustie. Venezuela faces an unprecedented economic crisis, marred by hyperinflation, food shortages and a mass exodus of its citizens.
