First-round scores for co-leaders American Kelly Shon and South Korean So Yeon Ryu at the Meijer LPGA Classic. Their 8-under scores at Bythefield Country Club in Grand Rapids, Mich., lead four players at 66, including American Lizette Salas (scores).


First-round score for England’s Scott Gregory in the U.S. Open. It was one of 29 scores of 80 or higher at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y. Gregory, 23, the British Amateur champion in 2016 who turned pro after the 2017 Walker Cup, earned his spot in the Open via the sectional qualifier at Walton Heath in England. Gregory’s score was the highest opening round in a U.S. Open since Felix Casas shot 92 at Bethpage Black in 2002 (scores).
