Included: Golf, in a multi-sport event Wednesday on the South Lawn of the White House to promote the goals of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition. LPGA champion Natalie Gulbis headlined the station devoted to golf. Other sports represented: flag football, baseball, volleyball, soccer and track and field. President Donald Trump, an avid golfer, hosted the event, urging the youngsters to “work hard, get in the game, play to win and, most of all, have a good time.” Trump had issued an executive order earlier this year that refocused the council on youth sports in an attempt to reverse a trend of declining participation. The council began in 1956 under President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
