Subtropical Storm Alberto rolled northward from the Gulf of Mexico through Alabama with heavy rainfall and high winds. The course was expected to be ready today for practice before play begins Thursday (tee times).

Percentage decline in rounds played in April, compared with the same month last year, according to Golf Datatech’s National Golf Rounds Played Report. The sharpest drop was in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, where colder weather was a factor, according to the report. The Mountain and Western states recorded modest gains in play. For the first four months of the year, rounds played in the U.S. are down 8.9 percent compared with the same period in 2017.
