If Jimenez were to defend his title successfully, it would be the ninth time that a player has won at least three consecutive times on the 50-and-older tour (tee times).

Seeding of Bernd Wiesberger, who defeated No. 1 Dustin Johnson, 3 and 1, on the first day of pool play Wednesday in the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play at Austin (Texas) Country Club. Wiesberger, of Austria, made only two birdies against four bogeys, but it proved to be plenty good enough to win. Johnson, the defending champion, stumbled through three bogeys, two double bogeys and a quadruple-bogey 9 to go a cumulative 9 over through 17 holes. Pool play continues through Friday, with the 16 pool winners advancing to weekend elimination play (Day 1 match recaps).
