Announced: By the U.S. Golf Association, that seven of its eight championships that will air on Fox Sports or FS1 will be broadcast commercial-free because of an expanded commitment from corporate partner Rolex. The U.S. Open will be the only tournament with traditional advertising, although the final hour will be presented without commercial interruption, the USGA said.

Died: Jesse Haddock, the former Wake Forest men’s coach who led the Demon Deacons to three national championships and 15 Atlantic Coast Conference titles in three decades, on Wednesday in Winston-Salem, N.C. He was 91 and had been admitted in recent weeks to hospice care, the Winston-Salem Journal reported. Haddock coached Wake Forest from 1962 to 1993, leading the Deacs to NCAA crowns in 1974, ’75 and ’86. Curtis Strange and Lanny Wadkins, both future major champions and World Golf Hall of Fame members, were among Haddock’s many graduates to the PGA Tour.
