The announcement ends the era of an 18-hole Monday playoff to break a tie at the USGA’s flagship event, the U.S. Open. The U.S. Women’s Open, U.S. Senior Open and U.S. Senior Women’s Open also will use a two-hole aggregate-total format beginning this year.
Announced: That the 2023 Walker Cup will be played at the Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland, for a record ninth time, according to the U.S. Golf Association and the R&A. The U.S. leads the biennial men’s amateur series against Great Britain and Ireland, 36-9-1. Other future matches: 2019 at Royal Liverpool in Hoylake, England; 2021 at Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Fla.; 2021 at Cypress Point Golf Club in Pebble Beach, Calif.
