The one-day, 18-hole qualifiers, to be played April 30-May 7, will determine the field for the 36-hole sectional round of qualifying. Illini Country Club in Springfield, Ill., will host a local qualifier for the 40th consecutive year, according to the USGA. Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati will serve as a host site for the 42nd time in the past 43 years. Only two players have won the U.S. Open by advancing through local and sectional qualifiers: Ken Venturi (1964) and Orville Moody (1969). The U.S. Open will be played June 14-17 at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y.
