Donated: By Jason Day, a BMW M760i (retail price: $155,000-plus) to the Evans Scholars Foundation for a hole-in-one that he made during Friday’s second round of the BMW Championship. Day used a 7-iron to ace the 188-yard, par-3 17th hole at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Ill. The foundation provides full college scholarships to caddies and is a beneficiary of the Western Golf Association, which operates the annual PGA Tour event.
Suspended: The second round of the Japan Golf Tour’s ANA Open in Sapporo, because of a missile launch by North Korea over the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido and into the Pacific Ocean. Japan’s Yuta Ikeda eventually won the tournament, defeating countrymen Shugo Imahira and Ryuko Tokimatsu in a playoff. The PGA Tour is scheduled to play its first official event in South Korea, the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges, on Oct. 19-22, on Jeju Island.
