9 U.S. sites offer 54 starting spots for 121st U.S. Open next week at Torrey Pines in San Diego

Fifty-four spots were up for grabs at nine sites across the country Monday as the last tickets were being punched into next week's U.S. Open.

The 36-hole qualifiers were held across the country, with the site in Columbus, Ohio, near the PGA Tour’s recently completed Memorial Tournament, offering the most spots: 16. A 3-hour, 15-minute rain delay early Monday in central Ohio left the Columbus qualifier undecided by nightfall. Play will resume Tuesday morning.

The 121st U.S. Open is scheduled for June 17-20 at Torrey Pines' South Course in San Diego.
