Taiwanese player sets pace in LPGA event at Williamsburg

In search of 1st victory, Wei-Ling Hsu shoots bogey-free 66 to lead Pure Silk Championship at Kingsmill Resort’s River Course

66: First-round score for Taiwan’s Wei-Ling Hsu, who opened a one-stroke lead during the first round of the LPGA’s Pure Silk Championship in Williamsburg, Va. Hsu toured Kingsmill Resort’s River Course in a bogey-free, 5-under round, capped by three consecutive birdies on the back nine, at Nos. 12-14. Hsu, 26 and in her sixth season on the LPGA, is looking for her first victory. South Koreans Sei Young Kim and Jiwon Jeon shot 4-under 67s to share second place with China’s Ruixin Liu, Malaysia’s Kelly Tan and Spain’s Luna Sobron Galmes. Two-time major champion Stacy Lewis was among five Americans tied for seventh place at 67. The tournament is the first of nine consecutive U.S. stops on the LPGA’s 2021 schedule.
