Garrick Higgo reaches career high in world ranking

South African wins 2nd European Tour title and 4th on a major pro tour in 2 years, rising to No. 65 in Official World Golf Ranking

65: Position in the Official World Golf Ranking for South Africa’s Garrick Higgo, who won the Gran Canaria Lopesan Open on Sunday for his second career title on the European Tour and his fourth victory on a major professional tour in the past 22 months. Higgo, 21, jumped 55 spots, from No. 110, to a career high in the world order with the victory in the Canary Islands. Australians Cameron Smith and Marc Leishman, who were ranked Nos. 25 and 37, respectively, entering the week, did not change in the world order with their victory at the PGA Tour’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The two-man team event, which counted as an official PGA Tour victory for each man and rewarded FedEx Cup points, did not generate world-ranking points. American Dustin Johnson remained No. 1 in the OWGR for the 36th consecutive week.
