The Zurich Classic of New Orleans, a two-man team event, will begin Thursday at TPC Louisiana in Avondale, a Pete Dye design that lies just west from New Orleans, across the Mississippi River. Five of the top 10 in the Official World Golf Ranking, led by No. 3 Jon Rahm of Spain, were entered. Rahm and American Ryan Palmer, who teamed to win the 2019 edition, will return as defending champions after last year’s event was canceled because of COVID-19. No. 4 Collin Morikawa will pair with fellow American Matthew Wolff, who is No. 26 in the world, to form another duo to watch. Two more Americans, No. 5 Xander Schauffele and No. 10 Patrick Cantlay, also will be among the favorites. No. 8 Tyrrell Hatton of England will join countryman Danny Willett. This will be the fourth edition of the New Orleans event, which dates to 1938, to be played as a team event. The format in the $7.4 million event will consist of four-balls (better ball) on Thursday and Saturday, and foursomes (alternate shot) on Friday and Sunday. For the complete field list, click here.
