Billy Horschel ranks No. 1 in Race to Dubai, despite playing a purely PGA Tour schedule, on strength of his WGC Match Play title
3: Number of Americans who are in the top four of the European Tour’s Race to Dubai season standings, despite the fact that only one of them has played a purely European Tour event. Billy Horschel ranks No. 1, based largely on the strength of his victory last month at the WGC Match Play. He has stepped outside of the U.S. this season only to play the PGA Tour’s Mayakoba Golf Classic in December. The four major championships and the four World Golf Championships count toward the European Tour’s season title. Collin Morikawa ranks third, largely because of his victory at the WGC Workday Championship, though he also competed in the European Tour’s DP World Tour Championship (T-10) and the Omega Dubai Desert Classic (T-68). Will Zalatoris, the Masters runner-up, stands fourth after a T-22 at the WGC Workday and a 1-1-1 record at the WGC Match Play. No American has won the European Tour’s season points title, formerly known as the Order of Merit. For a list of the past champions, click here.
