Matthew Fitzpatrick moves to career high in world ranking

With victory in European Tour’s season-ending event, Fitzpatrick jumps 6 spots, to 16th, and is the 2nd-highest-ranked Englishman

16: Position in the Official World Golf Ranking for Matthew Fitzpatrick, who improved six spots to a career high in the world order after winning the European Tour’s season finale, the DP World Tour Championship. Fitzpatrick, 26, of England, posted his second victory in the tour’s season finale in Dubai, after having won the 2016 edition. The only Englishman ranked higher is No. 10 Tyrrell Hatton. England’s Lee Westwood, who won the season’s Race to Dubai money title with a runner-up finish to Fitzpatrick in Dubai, improved from No. 47 to No. 36. Westwood, 47, is a former world No. 1. Fitzpatrick, the 2013 U.S. Amateur champion, has won six times on the European Tour. The top 10 in the OWGR remained unchanged, with American Dustin Johnson, the reigning FedEx Cup and Masters champion, on top for a 17th consecutive week.
