American team shoots tournament-record 37 under for 3 rounds to win by 9 strokes in the PGA Tour team exhibition
9: Number of strokes by which Harris English and Matt Kuchar won the QBE Shootout on Sunday for their third victory in the PGA Tour exhibition. The American duo combined to shoot a tournament-record 37 under, breaking their 2013 record by three strokes in the three-day, 54-hole, 12-team event at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Fla. They also won the event in 2013 and 2016. English and Kuchar shot 14-under 58 in a scramble on the first day, added an 11-under 61 in modified alternate shot on the second day and added a 12-under 60 in four-balls in the final round. English and Kuchar finished birdie, eagle, birdie to win going away. In six starts in the event formerly known as the Shark Shootout, English and Kuchar own three victories, two runners-up and a tie for ninth. The teams of Rory Sabbatini/Kevin Tway, Lanto Griffin/Mackenzie Hughes and Kevin Na/Sean O/Hair shared second place at 28-under 18 (scores).
