Englishman shoots 6-under 66 for a 17-under total and 3-stroke lead midway through the European Tour event in Dubai
17: Number of strokes under par that leader Andy Sullivan stands after two rounds of the European Tour’s inaugural Golf in Dubai Championship. Sullivan added a 6-under 66 on Thursday to his opening 61 for a 17-under 127 total and a three-stroke lead at Jumeirah Golf Estates’ Fire Course in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. England’s Sullivan, 33, who is looking for his second victory of the year and fifth of his career, has made only one bogey through 36 holes. “If you told me I would shoot 61-66, I would have snapped your hand off,” said Sullivan, who led by two strokes after the first round. “I feel like I have the golf ball in some sort of control at the moment. It just feels really comfortable out there.” England’s Matt Wallace and Ross Fisher matched 67s to share second place at 14-under 130. The cut for the top 65 and ties fell at 3 under as 87 players in the 100-man field broke par. The tournament is the first of two consecutive events in Dubai, where the European Tour will conduct its season-ending DP World Tour Championship next week (scores).
